Details
NMJ was often asked if he had an album that was close to the live show songs and sounds. This album is his answer to that recorded with a few friends round to help get the live vibe. Most songs went down in one take. It features great versions of the classic 10 minute long ‘Ship to Shore’, ‘Sentinel’ and many fans favourite ‘Breaking Cover’ (The Hare’s Leap).
Nik Turner and NMJ had planned a musical meeting to record after playing together at festivals. The instrumental ‘Fire Beacon Point’ came about after a long walk along the Cornish cliffs near Boscastle.
“ It was daunting trying to capture the magic that the audience make at a live show. It’s an indefinable thing and difficult to manifest in a studio situation. So I invited a few friends round and made the farmhouse/studio feel like a tiny venue. Strange to me I was more nervous than stepping out in front of thousands. I went through songs which suited the live vibe and we recorded as we went. Nik visited that month and we pursued the 'no pre agenda' idea just like when we bumped into each other at festivals and played without rehearsals relying on the moment and the audience’s magic. The cliff walking provided the inspiration similar to the audience at a live show.”
Quotes from Sleeve notes. ‘The song Breaking Cover/Hare’s Leap is dedicated to Albion and the Fayres’ ... ‘Life without a festival is like a road without an inn’ ...

‘An old lady of 95 years of age often said to me when basking in the sunshine watching the world pass by “It’s amazing what you go through in your life” ‘
